Here are some of my favourite fiction books that I have read. While most of my time is spent reading non-fiction, I am slowly recognizing the value of reading fiction books (especially if I just want something entertaining and am maybe not in an environment or mindset to focus and learn).

Replay by Ken Grimwood

I cannot for the life of me remember how I came across this book but it was recommended to me after I got into watching movies like Source Code or Butterfly Effect or even About Time – I’ll just leave it at that. What would you do if you could live your life over again? What things would you boldly do? Which loves would you not let go in your life?

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

A book recommended to me by my University Chemistry professor (although he did not directly recommend the book to me). Throughout the lectures, he kept on saying “don’t panic” and after a while of not understanding why he was saying that all the time, I decided to look it up and found that it came from this book. Douglas was well ahead of his time and if he was not an author, he could have worked as a physicist. This book is laugh out loud funny and one of the few books where I would laugh out loud in public while reading. Unfortunately, the movie did not do it the justice it deserved and I prefer the book over the movie.

Split Second by Douglas E. Richards

I can’t remember who recommended this book to me, but it’s a book about time travel, specifically about time travelling in a fraction of a second. You can’t win the lottery. You can’t change the past. But the power of time travelling in a fraction of a second is enough to kill for.

If you love mystery/thrillers, this is one you can’t miss. I love the audiobook and the intricate mysteries in the story gripped me. A man moves into a new building and discovers one apartment that is chained from the outside. With nobody knowing why, he sets out to uncover the truth behind the locked apartment.
